Title of Position:

Registered Dental Technician- Orthodontics Department

Location: Vancouver, BC 

Overview:  Protec Dental Laboratories Ltd. is a growing full-service dental laboratory located in Olympic Village area. We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team in our Orthodontics Department.  This job reports to the Orthodontic Laboratory Manager.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Preparing dental models for fabrication,
  • Custom wire bending and acrylic trimming for various orthodontic appliances
  • Existing knowledge of orthodontic appliances
  • Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to work under pressure
  • Supervisory experience considered an asset 
  • Ability to lead and motivate technicians as well as provide constructive feedback
  • Regularly assigns, reviews and approves technician’s work
  • Employs effective communication skills to maintain contact with the Department Manager, Supervisors, technicians and associates.
  • Encourages open discussion, speaks with clarity, actively listens and seeks clarification when necessary
  • Displays a sense of urgency regarding deadlines, utilizes time management and prioritization skills to coordinate work flow. T
  • Takes action as required to assist with production
  • Knowledge of Company and Industry specifications and standards and ability to perform inspections at key stages.
  • Pays attention to the details and applies consistent standards regarding the quality of work produced
  • Implements decision as to work flow and the planning and execution of department production tasks, as well as uses sound judgment regarding quality control
  • High school diploma or equivalent and acquired board knowledge of dental technology, as well as specialized knowledge of Orthodontics
  • A BC Registered Dental Technician License required
  • Basic Computer skill using Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software
  • Familiarity with lab equipment and environment
  • Ensures the proper maintenance and safety procedures are followed
  • Previous scheduling experience and demonstrated understanding of the manufacturing production process
  • Awareness of new products, manufacturing methods and technology in the dental industry
  • Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of wire bending/wire work
  • Knowledge and fabrication of a wide variety of Orthodontic appliances
